Advanced Therapeutic Exercises

Core Stabilization

Core stabilization can be thought of as spinal stabilization of the core, or primary muscles of the torso. This would include strengthening of the abs, the lower back, the upper legs, as well as the pelvic floor.

The benefits of core stabilization can include improvement in posture, balance, and peripheral mobility. Core stabilization can also enhance athletic performance as well as increased strength and agility.
In addition, a strong core can make all other forms of exercise more effective.

Neuromuscular Reeducation

Neuromuscular reeducation is the use of stretching, strengthening, and specialized exercises to relieve chronic pain by creating new ways of resting, holding and moving the human body. This creates new pathways for the muscles and joints thereby increasing mobility and promoting pain free, healthy tissues.

Neuromuscular Reeducation begins with learning how to effectively and safely stretch tight shortened muscles and tendons, and then special exercises are assigned to strengthen weakened muscles. Finally, specialized exercises are assigned to actually correct improper joint movements and restore mobility.
